In Minnesota, the Blue Green Alliance is working to create tens of thousands of green jobs. Minnesota is well positioned to create tens of thousands of both service and manufacturing jobs in clean, renewable energy. With a global warming and recession bearing down the nation and Minnesota, Governor Pawlenty should be working to put Minnesotans back to work solving global warming. That is why the Blue Green Alliance is reaching out to leaders in labor, business, and the community.
In less than a month, hundreds of Minnesotans have joined the campaign demanding a Green Jobs Plan for Minnesota. The Blue Green Alliance is also working with Mayor Rybak and Mayor Coleman to create thousands of green manufacturing jobs in Minneapolis Saint Paul. We recently released the Mayors Green Manufacturing Initiative’s Making It Green report detailing strategies for attracting green manufacturing to Minneapolis Saint Paul. Throughout the summer and into the fall, the Blue Green Alliance will reach out to Minnesotans at festivals, train activists, rally supporters, and build a powerful coalition.
What if there were a solution to combating global warming, creating good paying jobs and bolstering our economy? There is - a Green Jobs Plan for Minnesota. A recent study shows that over 18,000 jobs would be created in the manufacturing sector alone. What's stopping us? Governor Pawlenty. We must demand that Governor Pawlenty go to bat for Minnesotans and implement a Green Jobs plan for Minnesota now! Sign the petition now!
Saying Minnesota stands to realize enormous economic opportunities by pursing global-warming solutions, hundreds of community members, labor and environmental leaders rallied on July 27 at St. Paul College to call on Gov. Tim Pawlenty to create and implement a plan to create green jobs for Minnesota.
Joined by national radio commentator and bestselling author Jim Hightower, United Steelworkers International Vice President Fred Redmond, local labor, community, and environmental leaders said that investment in renewable energy and energy efficiency will stimulate economic growth and opportunity, creating thousands of good, family-supporting jobs for Minnesotans, while fighting global warming and moving America toward energy independence.
