was released today by the Center for American Progress in conjunction with the Green Jobs for America campaign. The report, authored by the Political Economy Research Institute at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, found that the U.S. can create two million jobs in two years with an investment in the green economy - nearly four times more than the same investment in the oil industry - and reduce the unemployment rate to 4.4 percent over two years.
The report shows that investing in six energy efficiency and renewable energy strategies, including retrofitting buildings, expanding mass transit and freight rail, constructing "smart" electrical grid transmission systems, wind power, solar power, and next generation biofuels, will create two million jobs in two years, with jobs being created all over the country.
